Release of BEIs' honoraria now on process
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is now processing the release of P11,325,600 honorarium for the 3,432 teachers in the city who served as members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) in the last May 14 synchronized national and local elections.
City Election Officer 2 Jonathan Sayno said he is now processing the honorarium of the BEIs at the City Division Office. He said, the release of the honorarium will depend on the processing ability of each school liason.
Comelec forwarded the names and other corresponding details of teachers who served as BEIs to the City Division Office before the final release of their honorarium.
Sayno said the teachers will claim their honorarium at the City Treasurer's Office and not with the City Comelec office.
Sayno's explanation came in the wake of the complaints of several teachers over the delay in the release of their honorarium.
Sayno said each BEI will receive P3,300 as honorarium for their service during the conduct of the election.
To note, Comelec has already released P1,500 to each of the teachers concerned alongside the distribution of the election paraphernalia recently.
The remaining P1,500 plus an additional P300 covering the BEIs transportation expenses should have been released after their election duties.
The BEIs carry important roles during the conduct of elections. They were responsible for the conduct of voting and counting of votes in their respective polling places and act as deputies of the Commission in the supervision and control of the election in the polling place wherein they were assigned.
