PIA IWAG Award kicks off
The annual IWAG Award which the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) gives to qualified graduating editors/writers of college and high school publications begins as the participating schools are required to evaluate performance of their nominees.
The IWAG award is an incentive scheme designed by the PIA to give recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication.
Each publication is entitled to send one nominee only who has passed the school's selection committee, who must meet all the prescribed criteria in the IWAG Award Evaluation Form.
Among the basic criteria is that the nominee must have participated in PIA 6 Basic Journalism trainings and conferences, have written at last least five developmental articles during his/her term, undergone communication work experiences, has involvement in related community and school activities, performed well academically and garnered relevant honors and awards.
Only a nominee who will obtain an average rating of at least 85% from the PIA IWAG Award Evaluation Committee shall be considered for the award.
PIA Dir. Janet Mesa said the PIA has cited students for promoting national development through the campus press since 1977. (PIA 6)
