6 rubber boats due for PNP’s maritime office in W. Visayas
Some P6-million worth of rubber boats are due for the Regional Maritime Office 6 (RMO 6) aimed mainly for search and rescue operations.
RMO 6 Administrative and Police Community Relations Officer, Insp. Ma. Lucille P. Arca said that it will be the first time for the RMO 6 to avail of such equipment that would surely boost the search and rescue capability of their unit.
She cited the benefit of using rubber boats during rescue operations, especially in congested areas.
“One rubber boat will be detailed in each of our four stations as well as in our regional office,” Arca added.
She said they have already sent 20 of their personnel to Cebu City just recently to join the “Rubber Boat Handling Course.”
The course was also participated in by personnel from other regional offices of the Maritime Group (Marig) in the Visayas region.
“The training is more on the familiarization when it comes to manipulation of rubber boats like boarding procedures and techniques,” she said. (PNA)
