PGMA gives med kits to Ilonggos
A total of 2,796 medical kits were given to Ilonggos from the Office of the President and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
The emergency medical kits are considered presents of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Mayor Jerry P. Treñas to selected barangays (villages) here as part of “Handog ni PGMA” program of the national government, in cooperation with the local government unit.
Included in the kit are basic first aid materials like cotton, cotton buds, povidone-iodine topical antiseptic for cleaning wounds, soap, and small bottle of alcohol.
Distribution for intended barangays was done Tuesday at the city hall through the office of Executive Assistant Francis Cruz.
The breakdown per district is as follows: Arevalo (13 barangays)–182 kits; Mandurriao (18 barangays)–252 kits; Jaro (42 barangays)–588 kits; City Proper (44 barangays)–616 kits; Molo (25 barangays)–350 kits; La Paz (26 barangays)–364 kits; and Lapuz (11 barangays) -154.
Still left for distribution to barangay coordinators and the women’s group of First Lady Rosalie Treñas are 169 kits.
Beneficiaries of the remaining 121 supplies are yet to be determined.
Association of Barangay Captains-Jaro district chief Jonas Antonio Bellosillo expressed thanks for the medical kits as they are beneficial to disaster-related work.
“Although they are not really complete, at least the kits can be used in first aid situations,” he said. (PIO)
