RDCC-6 launches ‘Flag Warning Signal’
Regional Disaster Coordinating Council 6 (RDCC-6) has launched their “Flag Warning Signal” at strategic areas along coastal barangays in Western Visayas.
The launching was held yesterday during the meeting of the RDCC-Communications and Warning Group at the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), Camp Martin Delgado here.
According to OCD regional director and RDCC-6 vice chairman Rosario Cabrera, the warning system would use flags as warning signals during calamity or emergency as part of the council’s overall disaster preparedness program especially during typhoon season.
Cabrera said the flag warning signal system was adopted by the council by virtue of a resolution passed last year to enhance public awareness during storm signal.
The RDCC is chaired by outgoing PNP regional director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas.
Also yesterday, the RDCC has appreciated the accomplishments made by Cuevas during his term.
Cuevas was given a Plaque of Recognition in support of his good contribution on “Disaster Risk Management” program in the region.
