COMELEC readies for brgy., SK polls
ROXAS CITY – Capiz province will elect 473 new sets of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials during the October 25 elections.
Preparations are also being finalized by the Commission on Elections Provincial Office for the exercise.
“There will be a command conference on September 20 at the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo City to plan out security plans,” Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño said.
A nationwide gun ban will be implemented starting September 25 to curb violence stemming from the uncontrolled use of firearms in the run-up to the barangay elections.
The poll gun ban will end on November 10.
The COMELEC has decided to re-implement the total gun ban because security forces have found it efficient in preventing crime and violence during the automated elections in May 2010.*PIA
