Del Rosario heads defense body, joins CA
ROXAS CITY – First District Rep. Antonio del Rosario has been named chairman of the House committee on national defense and one of the 12 members of the Committee on Appointments.
In a radio interview, Del Rosario thanked House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte and his collegues for choosing him to be a part of the two committees.
As national defense committee chair, he will deal with matters directly and principally related to national defense and security, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, peace process, citizens’ army, selective services, forts and arsenals, military bases or reservations and yards, coast and geodetic surveys, and disaster relief and rescue.
Meanwhile, being one of the 12 members of the CA, Del Rosario will be tasked to scrutinize all appointees of the president in any position that is very sensitive in the government.
Del Rosario, a close ally of former Senator Manuel Roxas II, said he is the first congressman from Capiz to head and sit in such powerful committees.
As for his district, Del Rosario had earlier vowed to continue what he started with consultations in barangays where he established infrastructures such as farm-to-market road projects.
He said he will also prioritize food security to uplift the lives of farmers by putting up an irrigation system in Maayon which could supply water to several barangays in Panitan, and also in Panay, Pontevedra and Pilar towns.*
