‘Gov’t, business center completed in 15 months’
ROXAS CITY – The one-stop-shop government and business center started last July is expected to be completed in 15 months, Provincial Engineer Edgar Agana said.
The P210-million project, financed under of the P683-million credit facility of the province from Philippine Veterans’ Bank, is being constructed by Young Builders Construction Inc. from Cebu City.
Agana said the provincial government hired the laborers but the skilled workers were hired by the contractor from Cebu.
The building will rise in San Roque Street to accommodate offices of the local and national government agencies that presently rent private buildings.
The purpose is to bring these offices under one roof to enable their clients to easily facilitate their transactions with the agencies.
Last year, the proposed business center became controversial after former Board Member Gilbert Ardivilla opposed the project for various reasons.
Ardivilla sought a restraining order from the court to stop the construction.
A similar case has also been filed by several Capiceños before a Makati City court, but it forwarded the case back to the local court here.
The provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Victor Tanco Sr said nothing can stop the project because it was already approved by the Provincial Board and the PVB also granted the provincial government a credit facility to fund it.*
