Drunk stabs wife, daughter
A man under the influence of liquor stabbed his wife and daughter Monday evening at their house in Brgy. Camiros, Anilao, Iloilo.
Suspect Moreto Florentino remains at large as of press time.
His wife Leticia, 68, was injured on her chest while his daughter Jinky Gordon, on her left arm.
Jinky is being treated at Barotac Nuevo District Hospital while her mother is admitted at West Visayas State University Medical Center.
Police investigation showed Moreto and his daughter’s husband, Celerino, were drinking together but after a while Celerino decided to leave.
This resulted to an argument wherein Moreto called Celerino “gago” (stupid).
Jinky then asked his father why he called her husband as such, but it made Moreto angry and he tried to stab Celerino. Jinky intervened and was wounded instead.
Leticia tried to pacify them but her husband also stabbed her.
Celerino meanwhile hit his father-in-law on the head with a wood but
Moreto still managed to flee.
Anilao police chief, Senior Insp. Rogen Morales, said Celerino said their family will not pursue criminal charges against the suspect.*
