Search for model child launched
The Task Force on Street Children of the Iloilo City Government is holding a search for the “Huwaran nga Anak” or model child, the nominees of which will come from indigent families.
This serves as a sequel to the Task Force’s activity every Mother’s Day celebration, the “Search for Bulawanon nga Nanay.”
The search for the model child is in line with the commemoration of the Children’s Month in October.
It will be the first major activity of the Task Force chaired by Rosalie Treñas, wife of Rep. Jerry Treñas, after it was reconvened recently by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
The search aims to encourage children to become role models in nation building, strengthen parent-child relationship, recognize their vital contribution to family, community and nation building, and increase public awareness on the importance of environmental care and protection .
It is open to children ages 12-17, whose monthly family income is less than P10,000.
Nomination forms will be made available in various district offices of the City Social Welfare Office starting September 29, and the submission will end on October 15.
The champion will receive P7,000 in cash while the first and second runners-up will be given P5,000 and P3,000, respectively, aside from other gifts and prizes from sponsors.
The awarding of winners will be on October 28, 2 p.m., at Robinson Place Iloilo.
