Ex-Miss U lauds Iloilo City for cleanliness
Gloria Diaz, actress and 1969 Miss Universe, has praised Iloilo City for its cleanliness during her visit yesterday.
“This is the cleanest place I’ve been to so far – it’s truly amazing,” the former beauty queen said.
Diaz met with Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog before proceeding to Dueñas, Iloilo where she will crown the town’s fiesta queen.
On her way to the City Hall, Diaz said she saw the general appearance of the metropolis.
She congratulated Mabilog for doing a great job, saying the “cleanliness of the place is really based on the kind of leader it has.”
“The city is well-ran. I can say you are even now with Davao (in terms of appearance). Makati is also clean, but I think it’s much cleaner here,” she said.
Mabilog said he is thankful to Diaz for the “unsolicited endorsement” as he takes pride of the work done in making the city “clean and green.”
“This just shows that all of our clean-up efforts are paying off,” the mayor said.*
