BM seeks fact-finding on jailbreak at CRC
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Board Member Remia Fuentes Bartolome is pushing for the creation of a fact-finding committee that will investigate the escape of a Capiz Rehabilitation Center prisoner who is facing illegal drug cases.
Bartolome, in a privilege speech, said the committee will investigate who are those liable for the jailbreak, and whoever are involved should be imposed with appropriate penalties.
She related that two years ago, an inmate also escaped from the lock-up cell of Panay Police Station while the town was celebrating its fiesta.
Last September 24, Sulpicio Marcelino of Brgy. Tacas, Pontevedra, Capiz escaped from the provincial jail amid the revelry in the CRC anniversary celebration.
Bartolome said Marcelino is facing two cases for illegal drug pushing before the Regional Trial Court Branch 18.
She said the jailguards who are responsible for the escape will face infidelity of public officers in the custody of prisoner, whether it is due to connivance or negligence.
Provincial Warden Arjuna Yngcong has vowed to charge the jail guards responsible for the inmate’s escape.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. had earlier given Yngcong a week to arrest Marcelino.*
