Roxas Baybay clean-up held
ROXAS CITY – Close to 1,000 students, government employees and members of civic groups joined the coastal clean-up drive last September 25 in support of the International Clean-Up Day and in line with the Provincial Tourism Week celebration from September 24 to 30 themed “Tourism and Biodiversity.”
The clean-up, held at the five-kilometer beachfront of Baybay from Joamanda Beach Café to Barbasa Restaurant, was spearheaded by the City Tourism Office.
The activity was also supported by National Service Training Program students of Capiz State University Main and Dayao campuses, Filamer Christian University and College of St. John-Roxas, the Philippine National Police, Kiwanis International, and officials of Brgy. Baybay.
Organizers said the clean-up drive aims to keep the coastal environment safe and healthy for everyone and for the coming generations. It is also a manifestation of the local government’s support to activities that aim to protect and conserve the environment, particularly to keep Baybay beach “free of pollution.”*
