COMELEC convenes joint security group
ROXAS CITY – Preparations for the forthcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are underway in Capiz.
Police Officer 3 Donna Asmod of the Capiz Police Provincial Office said a Joint Security Coordinating Center conference was already conducted by the Commission on Elections provincial office.
Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño presided over the meeting on September 27, with the provincial police officials headed by Director Renato Gumban and police chiefs from 16 towns and Roxas City.
Also present was Maj. Manuel Haidan, representing the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion.
Election officers from the different towns were also present.
City Election Officer Jomar Betita discussed during the activity the salient election rules, namely COMELEC Resolution No. 9091 or the calendar of activities and periods of certain prohibited acts and COMELEC Resolution No. 9026 or the request for the concurrence of the President in the deputation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
Also included in the discussion was COMELEC Resolution No. 9028 or the rules and regulations on the bearing, carrying or transporting of firearms and other deadly weapons, and employment, availment or engagement of the services of security or bodyguards personnel in connection with the October 25 elections.
Gumban, for his part, assured the public the Capiz police will take efforts to ensure a peaceful and credible elections in the province.*PIA
