CSC ‘Botika’ in gov’t offices soon
Some 300 government offices nationwide will soon be outlets of the “Botika para sa Taumbayan” as part of the government’s continued efforts to make available quality and affordable medicines to more Filipinos.
Recently, the Civil Service Commission signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health for the establishment of Botika para sa Taumbayan outlets in government offices nationwide.
In a press report, CSC said the BPT outlet which is patterned after the Department of Health’s Botika ng Barangay will sell affordable, high quality medicines to both state workers and the agency’s transacting public.
Under the MOA, the DOH will provide an initial P15 million worth of medicines. The CSC will then identify 300 government agencies to receive P50,000 worth of medicines each from the seed fund to start the BPT outlet.
The CSC and its identified recipients will work hand in hand to comply with DOH policies and requirements for the establishment and operation of the BPT outlets in government offices.
“Aside from assisting the government in improving access to low-cost quality medicines, this move is in line with the CSC’s commitment to institutionalize workplace harmony and wellness in the public sector,” said CSC Chair Francisco Duque III said.
“A healthy body and a sound mind is part of the success equation of workplace productivity. Thus, we at the CSC are continuously finding ways to provide additional health benefits for state workers,” Duque added.*PIA
