Exec lauds Aquino’s ‘good work’
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has lauded the “good work” President Benigno Aquino III has done in his first 100 days in office.
Mabilog, a Liberal Party member, said that Aquino was able to prove his mettle by making good of his promised reforms in the national government a few months after he assumed office.
President Aquino’s political will to implement government policies and programs is commendable, especially that he is the one who practices it in his work, he said.
The mayor also praised the President’s sensible answers to queries and challenges posed to him by the media and his critics.
He was able to make good of his words and face the very challenging first 100 days despite big deficits in the national budget, and the need to cut-back from expenses, he said.
Mabilog said, however, that some people surrounding the President did not stand behind him during the bloody hostage crisis in Manila that claimed the lives of eight foreigners.
Some of his Cabinet members did not stand up to protect him against harsh criticism and unfair judgment, the mayor said.
Mabilog said President Aquino remains his “idol” in public service for his hard work and strength in personality.*PNA
