It is a time of great jubilation to the religious and friends of Assumption worldwide when its foundress, Mother Marie Eugenie Milleret, was beatified by Pope Paul VI in 1975 and finally canonized and raised into sainthood by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome last June 3, 2007. The Assumption communities in Iloilo, made up of the religious, lay, fraternities and alumnus of together with their Mother Provincial Sr. Ma. Josefina Matias had a special Thanksgiving Mass officiated by the Archbishop Angel Lagdameo at the Jaro Cathedral last July 15.
Recognizing the vision of Exemplary Christian Education for Life (EXCEL), Central Philippine University (CPU) known for its commitment to mold and develop students to become responsible, God-fearing and better citizens of the country, honored donors and scholars last July 9, 2007 at the university's Alumni Promenade Concert Park.
The prisoners of the Iloilo City Jail for Women had special visitors last July 15. On that day, the Sta. Maria Parish Apostleship of Prayer shared mass, prayers, lunch and songs with them. The former also listened to their stories and such had touched the hearts of the members of this religious community.
