Government auditors uncovered some P115.7 million worth of computer sets bought for public school students of Western Visayas yet ended up being used by school principals. And as an added 'bonus,' government textbooks valued over P25.2 million.

Treñas orders tight security on business establishments

Treñas said, though there is no apparent threat of similar terroristic attack in the city it is better that security measures are put in place to protect the public.

Public hearing on plan to change color of ati tribes' warriors set

Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) is set to hold a public hearing on October 24, 2007 to discuss their proposal to change the color of the body paint or soot used by tribe warriors in the ati tribes competition. IDFI is proposing to change the color from the usual black to dark brown. The public hearing, which will start at 9 a.m., will be held at the conference room of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

A nationwide alliance of fisherfolk organizations has urged around 133,000 oil spill compensation claimants whose claims were rejected by a London-based insurance organization to file their claims before the giant oil firm Petron Corp.

The number was significant enough that had government auditors categorize its findings under "acute seats-shortage" list as it made its reports on the operations of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Warning up vs. water-refilling stations sans permits

City Mayor Jerry Treñas said he has ordered the sanitary inspectors of the City Health Office (CHO) to conduct an inspection on all water-refilling stations in the city to ensure that they operate within the required standards.
