Lawyer, contractor 'threaten' city execs over housing project mess

Yesterday's (Tuesday) committee hearing finally saw the key figure in the city government's socialized housing project in Pavia, Iloilo his presence aided by a legal counsel. It also heard anew a warning from a lawyer who vowed to hurl top city officials to Court if and when they decide to pay up millions in due account.

People downed by oil spill nearing 2,000

The number of people experiencing health problems related to the oil spill in Guimaras continue to rise, over a month since the disaster began Aug. 11.

After several years the key figure in the city government's anomalous socialized housing project in Pavia, Iloilo--contractor Alex Trinidad (partly hidden)--with his lawyer showed up in the Sangguniang Panglungsod committee hearing on the city's plan to pay Ace Builders and Enterprises the remaining balance of P14 million.

Past PTA officers in trouble for 'missing funds'

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, Sr. reportedly will send a team from National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Manila to investigate the alleged missing funds of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Iloilo National High School (INHS) amounting to hundreds of thousands of pesos.

The alleged missing funds was discovered only recently by newly elected PTA president Larry Deatras, a councilor of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
