Notice to all Capitol department heads: Manuel Mejorada and lawyer Salvador Cabaluna III remain as provincial administrator and provincial legal officer, respectively. While at it, disregard the Resolution of the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) stating otherwise.

No Aetas in Boracay before dev't--Trompeta

Department of Tourism (DoT) Regional Director Edwin Trompeta believes there were no indigenous people (Aetas) that inhabited Boracay before it was developed into a high-end tourism destination. The Aetas stayed in mainland Caticlan, he averred.

Leonardia ignores BAHA call for apology

BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said that he will not apologize to the residents of Brgy. Felisa relative to the tension that happened October 26 when the residents conducted a barricade blocking garbage trucks from entering the dumpsite.

Earlier, Bacolod Anti-Baha Alliance condemned in the strongest terms the alleged physical abuse and humiliation inflicted upon the residents of Brgy. Felisa by City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora and the Bacolod City Police Office and then called on Mayor Leonardia to issue a public apology.

City Mayor Jerry Treñas agreed to have Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (Icupao) chair Roy Firmeza investigated upon his return from China relative to the allegation of City Councilor Antonio Pesina that he attempted to bribe the latter.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has ordered the City Engineer's Office to alternate the use of sodium lamps at main thoroughfares here beginning at 10 P.M. daily in a latest cost-saving measure to reduce the city government's monthly power bills.
